The zodiac signs of the Chinese lunar calendar served as the inspiration for the designs of the Lunar Series from the Perth Mint in Australia. Despite the annually changing designs—such as the tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, pig, rat, and ox—these gold coins are sought after not only by collectors. Their moderate premium makes them particularly popular investment coins worldwide.
The coin depicts a leaping rabbit amidst grasses with tufts of feathers. The design features the Chinese character for “rabbit,” the inscription “RABBIT 2023,” and the Perth Mint’s “P” mint mark. The obverse features the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark, as well as the coin’s weight, fineness, and face value.
