When purchasing gold jewellery, scrap gold or broken gold, the precise determination of the fine gold content is crucial. The value of your jewellery is based on three main factors:- The gold alloy (fineness): The hallmark (the small stamp) on your jewellery indicates the gold content. Common alloys include:
- 750 gold: contains 75.0% pure gold (18 carat)
- 585 gold: contains 58.5% pure gold (14 carat)
- 333 gold: contains 33.3% pure gold (8 carat)
- The weight: The exact weight of the pure gold content (excluding non-precious stones or other materials) is determined using calibrated precision scales.
- The current gold price: The purchase price is based on the current gold price, to which we align our prices transparently and in line with the market.
Important: The emotional value or craftsmanship of a piece of jewellery is generally not compensated in pure precious metal purchasing, as the jewellery is melted down and returned to the precious metals cycle.
