Since 2016, the Perth Mint has been issuing the Australia Kangaroo silver bullion coin. The coin, made of 1 oz of 999.9/1,000 fine silver, is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 in an unlimited mintage. The coin has an unlimited mintage, but production will cease at the end of 2026. After that, the Perth Mint will announce the official mintage.
The reverse of the coin features a leaping kangaroo surrounded by stylized sunbeams. The wavy edge bears the inscription “AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO,” the weight, the fineness, and the year of issue, as well as the Perth Mint’s “P” mint mark.
The reverse of the coin also features a security feature in the form of a letter micro-laser-engraved into the coin’s design. It is visible only under a magnifying glass.
The obverse of the coin features a portrait of King Charles III painted by Dan Thorne, as well as the face value.
You can purchase the coins individually, in tubes of 25, or in a master box (250 coins).
